Chelsea mesmerized by United triumph

Defending champion Manchester United has leapfrogged Chelsea in the English Premier League following a narrow home victory over Wigan Athletic.

United is currently two points adrift league leaders Liverpool, which has 46 points. Ferguson's men still have another game in hand and would go to the top should they defeat Bolton on Saturday.

Manchester United makes a bold statement of its season intentions by defeating title rival Chelsea 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Goals from Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov allowed the English, European and world champions move within five points of Premier League leader Liverpool.

United now has 41 points with 19 played games, while Chelsea remains second, chasing Liverpool, which has 46 points from 21 games.
